In memoriam

It’s still early morning, when I step outside in the garden. I put fresh water in the basin for the birds and raccoons, put some nuts and oats on the tree stump, and take my camera to look for a picture. Going down the steps, I see a big insect hanging on the little flowers of the Heuchera plant that grows under the big oak tree. I take a step nearer, carefully, as I don’t wanting to disturb the tiny creature, and take a picture, and another one. Then I see it. This poor insect is dead, somehow trapped in the threads of a spider. No escape possible.
