Lost her way

Cycling back from the city market, we noticed a coot lying beside the path. She had likely been killed trying to cross the street. Her black body blending in completely with the empty winter’s flower beds, only the white of her bill giving her away. Raindrops lighting up her feathers. For her sweet soul, we made a grave out of earth and berries.
